WACKED UP MADNESS!!!

bruno

Bruno is flaming lava!!!

Fans of English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen just couldn’t wait for the release of his latest mockumentary comedy film, Bruno. While this film creates a worldwide hit out of the fictional, flamboyant Austrian gay reporter, Bruno has been criticized for scenes that discriminate the gay community. Other critics, on the other hand, see the portrayal of Bruno as a satire on homophobia. We are also excited to see Fil-Am actor Clifford Banagale, who played Bruno’s Asian boyfriend, in this ultimate 21st century comedy!

Everybody’s talking about Gossip Girl.

The teen drama based on a book series written by Cecily von Ziegesar is making its way to be one of the newest top teen shows not just in America, but also in other countries around the globe.

To those who are not familiar with the show, Gossip Girl revolves around the crazy and scandalous lives of Manhattan’s Upper East Side teens as unfolded by an anonymous blogger named ‘Gossip Girl’.

Here are three reasons why boys and girls alike are buzzing about the gossip-worthy show.

1. The show is entertaining.

Intrigues, controversies, lies are just some of the things that make Gossip Girl a guilty pleasure. The drama and the conflicts between characters never stop to amuse its viewers. The show showcases our superficial fantasies in a satirical manner about the lives of the super rich and powerful while satisfying them.

2. The show teaches boys and girls a thing or two about fashion.

Gossip Girl introduced new trends in fashion—wearing headbands with big bows like Blair Waldorf won’t make you look silly but instead will make you look so adorable and pastel-colored clothes on boys look so playful yet manly just like Chuck Bass.

The show set a lot of trends that do not only encourage teens to be modern, but also to have their own kind of look.

3. The characters have depth though flawed, that makes them somehow relatable and lovable to the viewers.

(L-R) Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald, Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen, Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey and Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humphrey.

Do you have lots of insecurities like Blair Waldorf? Are you longing for your parents’ approval like Chuck Bass? Are you someone like Serena van der Woodsen, a former rebel who is trying to walk on the right path now? Do you want to prove something to the world by being yourself just like Nate Archibald? Are you trying to fit in like Jenny Humphrey? Do your dreams fuel you to work better like Dan Humphrey?

The characters in the show are not perfect; each of them has their own flaws and faces their own troubles. Those make them more human.

Gossip Girl is currently filming its third season and is expected to premiere on September 2009. Watch out for more gossip-worthy plot twists, more fashionable moments and more drama between characters. We know we love it because nobody does it better than Gossip Girl.

Pacquiao in the same boat as Ali?

If you did not watch the main event in yesterday’s fight, then you have certainly missed a lot. Finishing the match within the second round with a KO, Manny Pacquiao not only shut the mouths of his opponents and supporters, which we all know have been very active prior to this memorable event. He also made so many people buzz about him and his “place in history” (Newsday.com).

After Pacmans match against Ricky Hatton, talks have increased, asking if Pacman now deserves to be placed beside the boxing greats like Ali. Many people around the world, not just the Filipinos (though we seem to have at least a representative in every country in the world), seem to think so.

Whether or not Pacman would claim foothold among the best boxers in the world throughout history, he has long found a strong place in our hearts as Filipinos. Every time he has a match, a dramatic change across the country seems to always occur.

Prior to the match Manila Bulletin has pointed out an expected “undeclared truce” between the government’s military and terrorist groups. This would coincide with a report of zero-crime rate from the PNP, which has been occurring in the last several years on the days Pacquiao has matches.

If you want to watch a bit of the match online, see zdiaz.com.

Now, who thinks Pacman deserves to be named one of the greatest fighters in the world and of all time?
