Online gaming or even the PSP/Gameboy/Nintendo DS because it makes the kids (the youth) nowadays more detached from everything that’s happening around them. Plus, it makes parent-child relationships worse since the gaming consoles (and RPG) promote isolation and no communication. Online games and game consoles work like drugs and we don’t even know it - detachment from reality, isolation, irresponsibility, irritability, impatience and lack of self control! You name it! It’d be better if we play scrabble, monopoly, pictionary, taboo, habulan, patintero, etc.! Bring back old school!

photoshop retouching should be banned. they may only be used only to the extent of improving the quality of photos but not in concealing humanly imperfections. let the readers appreciate real and genuine beauty!

online gaming, RPG, etc. should be banned because these causes children to be more attached to the artificial environment these games have created. Thus make them less involved in the community/society within them. Noticeably, such effect leads to the destruction of moral values/ attitude of the teenagers, whom these games cater to most often.

I think Online Gaming. most Filipino youths of today are getting addicted to Online Games. And I think that the Gaming Stations are responsible for this. This is one reason why their is a cold relationship between the Parents and the Child. It also destruct our moral values and our ethics as a Filipino…

the role playing games and the strategy games that seem so realistic because not only children are addicted to it but also the adults. people are not going out anymore to play with their friends like it was back then. gaming isn’t fun anymore! please bring back more of the children’s game (mario and sonic).

even though i read many entries already bearing the idea of online gaming, i still go with the idea of banning it. many people, especially students become very addicted to it and somehow they spend most of their time beating their asses off in computer shops (with yelling and all that) rather than taking time to study.

I suggest we don’t ban anything but rather allow society to take in these technological innovations, but the only thing that I would suggest is that we take them in at a slower pace. It is because of the speed of these innovations and advancements, and the speed at which we partake in them, that we lose sight of their importance. Obsolescence has become a norm of society that we take for granted certain technologies and we do not take in as much as we should. We don’t learn from it as we should if we do not allow it to sink in a bit longer before we start upgrading.

I’m not sure if this can be considered, but I would like unauthorized websites, giving out inaccurate information to be banned. We all know how the quality of education is deteriorating and websites that give out false info can do more harm than to help in this situation. Information overload is also another problem that comes with this.
I would also like for an online game to be banned, specifically DOTA. A lot of guys yell and scream like I don’t know them anymore in the computer shops when playing this game and it can seriously get annoying. Some also do gambling also through this game.

For me, I feel Youtube site should be moderated in someways especially with the ’sex scadals’ and ‘home-made porn’ materials. There are many victims who came out from news and television were victimized by this kind of situation wherein he or she (mostly she’) are being blackmailed and manipulated by this un-moderated act. Whether it is from a psychotic eX-BF or a simple pervert.
It’s one big nightmare to be violated sexually and physically and it’s even worse if the whole world can watch it at a simple click of a button.
There should be a law that restricts such reckless airing of such materials not only locally but worldwide as well.

We cant stop technology. All now is open source,
BE RESPONSIBLE. You must address this to NCC(national computer center) Philippines. With all this comments and members it is a big force. You know what im saying.
So my advice to you is that whenever you have the opportunity to discuss similar issues to people, remind them to look beyond the dollars and the big buildings. Prove and ask them what are the benefits for the Filipinos in short term and long term. You’ll be surprise that the benefits are either short lived or non-existent. The benefits belong to the owners and investors and they take these out of the contry and deposit it elsewhere. It does not remain and circulate in the Philippines.

agreeing with everybody, online games particularly RPG’s. It’s a playground for molesters/abusers to possibly lure kids into something dangerous. Then again, I think parents have the bigger responsibility in monitoring their children’s activities since I’m sure they’re fully aware that we’re in the digital age and that everything is accessible with the click of a mouse.

Credits cards! You got to spend the money your not yet earning and MOST of the time, your bound to have tons of debts which can make you most likely to be depressed or restless and it doesn’t promote proper money handling.

i think we should ban online games… its really pissing my prof and our deans…
students usually cut class and go to internet shops and just be there spending money and doing i dunno stuff…
also i think MOTORCYCLE should be out!!!! i hate them when they’re on the road… and i hate the fact that they are actually the primary source of air pollution in the country according to the news!

instead of banning a technological innovation (which, I think, is near impossible unless dictated by time), why don’t we invent ways to regulate its use (rather, ABUSE). =)
—Jerome, 20, BSE, Don Bosco College - Canlubang, Laguna
Even though technology has tons of beneficial effects, it could also have its detrimental effects because of improper usage. I think as human beings we have the responsibility to control things rather let things control us. No need to ban anything, just discipline.
—Charlene Ashley Nicole Dy, 19, AB-ISE, De La Salle University-Manila
for me, no technological advances or innovations are created to do bad or to harm its user. don’t blame these innovations for the bad effects it brought to us but rather look into ourselves on how we use these innovations. we ourselves should be responsible on how are we going to take about these innovations bombarding us. it’s on our discretion on how are we going to make these innovations affect us, affect our lives. it’s like drugs, before it was created to cure but people abused it that’s why it had bad effects to us. i think the same goes for these technological innovations.

because it makes the kids (the youth) nowadays more detached from everything that’s happening around them and it does affect the kids’ physical activities such as sports, etc.
